The Two Fatalities Named in the Providence Campus Incident as Police Press On With Search for Gunman.

Two students who lost their lives in the recent violent attack in Providence were being remembered Monday – while an intensive search for their killer continued following the discharge by authorities in Rhode Island of the sole person questioned in the case.

Tributes for Ella Cook

The young woman Ella Cook, a second-year student from Alabama, was called “an amazing, stable, pious, radiant soul”, per the Birmingham's Cathedral Church of the Advent, which offered condolences for her at a service on Sunday.

Cook was vice-president of Brown’s chapter of the campus GOP group, as the club stated. The White House press secretary also posted sympathies online, remarking: “Words cannot express. Remembering her family and friends, especially her parents.”

An International Student

The second fatality was MukhammadAziz Umurzokov from Uzbekistan, a citizen of Uzbekistan in his first year of studies at the prestigious university, family members said.

The victim's identification was verified by Uzbekistan’s foreign ministry.

“He was incredibly kind, funny, and smart. He harbored grand aspirations of pursuing a career in neurosurgery and assisting patients,” his sibling Samira said in a tribute.

The Shooting Incident

Nine other people were injured in the violent event in the school of engineering of Brown’s grounds in Providence, during the university's examination week.

Law enforcement reported on Sunday evening that a man aged 24 arrested in a search at a Hampton Inn about approximately 17 miles from the scene earlier in the day was being released.

“A perpetrator remains free,” stated Peter Neronha, Peter Neronha.

Neronha explained, “Occasionally a probe goes down a path, and then you have to regroup and go in another, and that’s exactly what has happened over the last approximately one day.”

Ongoing Concerns

The city's mayor, Brett Smiley, acknowledged: “It is expected to provoke fresh anxiety for our public”.

The shooter opened fire inside a room in the engineering building on Saturday, shooting over four dozen bullets from a 9mm pistol, a law enforcement official told the news agency.

Officers that entered the inn found two firearms and magazines when the individual was taken into custody, the news agency reported.

Condition of the Injured

Of the nine hurt, one pupil was allowed to go home, mentioned Brown’s president, Christina Paxson. Seven others were in critical but stable condition, and another was critically ill, police said on Sunday.
